What is the difference between online and offline consultations?
Online consultations are conducted via Betterbeing video calls, while offline consultations require you to visit our office at #222-8901 Woodbine Ave, Markham, Ontario, Canada.
What are the consultation fees?
Fees vary depending on the therapist. For psychotherapists: $140-210 per session. For social workers: $160 per session.
How soon can I schedule an appointment?
For sessions with our therapists, appointments are typically available within the following week. Appointments with our psychiatrist depend on the current waitlist, so wait times may vary — please contact us for the most up-to-date availability.
Is there a free 15-minute consultation?
We do not offer a free 15-minute consultation. However, before the official consultation, our receptionist will conduct a 15-minute intake to collect your personal information and consultation purpose, and explain the confidentiality agreement. We use this information to match you with the most suitable psychotherapist for your needs.
Does OHIP and UHIP cover the consultation fees?
Sessions with our Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Social Workers are not covered by OHIP or UHIP. Our psychiatrist’s services are covered by OHIP or UHIP, as psychiatric care is a physician-provided medical service; however, a referral from your family doctor is required to see our psychiatrist.
I am not sure if my insurance covers the consultation fees.
You need to check the coverage details of your insurance policy. Typically, if psychotherapists and social workers are listed under mental health coverage, our therapists with these qualifications are covered.
Can you directly bill my insurance, or do I need to submit the claim myself?
We offer direct billing for most major insurance plans, including Extended Health Care (EHC), Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), Motor Vehicle Accident coverage (MVA), and WSIB. Please contact us to confirm whether direct billing is available for your specific plan.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept various forms of payment, including credit, debit, cash, e-transfer, Apple Pay, and AliPay.
Do you have a psychiatrist on staff?
Yes, LingYu now has a psychiatrist on staff who provides diagnostic assessments and medication management, working alongside our therapy team to offer more coordinated care.
What age groups do you provide psychological services for?
We provide psychological services for all age groups.
Can you provide diagnostic assessments for Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) claims?
Yes, we now offer diagnostic assessments for MVA-related claims directly, helping to streamline your treatment and insurance process.
