For autistic children (6+), teens and their parents
Autism (ASD) Support for Children & Families
Every autistic child grows at their own pace and has their own strengths. Our Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Social Workers respect each child's individuality and start from what they do well, offering counselling, parent coaching and family therapy for children and teens with autism (ASD), ADHD and other special education needs. Sessions are in English, Mandarin or Cantonese, in person at our Markham office, and can be paid with Ontario Autism Program (OAP) funding or extended health insurance.
Helps children recognize and express their feelings, cope with anxiety, emotional ups and downs and behaviour challenges, and get along with classmates and family. Therapists draw on play and expressive approaches suited to each child's age and needs.

Helpful things to know about Autism (ASD) Support for Children & Families at LingYu
Does my child need an autism diagnosis?
If you pay with extended health insurance or on your own, no diagnosis is needed. Children who are diagnosed, waiting for an assessment, or simply showing signs that worry you are all welcome. To use Ontario Autism Program (OAP) funding, your child needs to be registered with the OAP. Please note that we do not provide autism diagnostic assessments.
Can we use OAP funding?
Yes. Counselling with our Registered Psychotherapists (RP) and Registered Social Workers (RSW) can be paid with OAP funding. Please check with the OAP for the amount available and how to claim. We can provide receipts for your claim.
Is it covered by insurance?
Many extended health plans cover counselling with a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Social Worker. Coverage varies, so please check with your insurer.
What ages do you see?

Do parents need to come too?
It depends on your child's age and needs. With younger children, parents usually join part of the session, and parents can also book parent coaching on their own.
